Pregnancy Anti-Nausea Nutrient Dense Ginger Chewy Cookies {grain free, primal, WAPF}

Whoa, so that was a mouthful of a title. Dude. I made these today for a recently knocked up friend of mine who feels like death on a stick. So good. I took a few recipes and made up my own so they are not perfect, but they are delightful. They are fairly low sugar, low carb, but not my usual keto low carb high fat-ness, so they actually taste really, really good.

The truth is, pregos and new mamas just deserve cookies. And these lovelies will make you feel better AND feel good about the fact that you are actually getting some wicked nutrition to your growing bump. Even if people ain’t gotta clue what’s under the hood. I hate those first few weeks of feeling like a marshmallow. Bahhh. Eat the cookie and tell everyone to eff off.

These babies have a few of my favorite pregnancy things:

Ginger. A shit ton. And so good for that all day morning sickness crap.

Ghee. I am telling you, fat gets rid of the nausea. You want carbs, but I promise fat actually makes you feel better. AND lots of cultures have been using Ghee for years as a pregnancy super boost. Just eat the ghee.

Eggs. The perfect pregnancy food rich in choline for that baby.

Flax meal. High fiber, excellent source of Omega-3s, vitamin E, and B complex vitamins, and minerals such as: manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium.

Black strap molasses. I think this is a superfood – medicinal powerhouse.

“Blackstrap molasses has a low glycemic index. This means the glucose and carbohydrates are metabolized slowly, demanding less insulin production and stabilizing blood sugar. This results in less lipids or fats being stored in the liver while reducing your diabetes 2 risk factor.

Because of its high iron content, many use blackstrap molasses to holistically overcome anemia. Iron is essential to creating red blood cells. In addition to iron, blackstrap molasses contains folate, a natural source for folic acid, along with some other B vitamins, which all combine to form the synergistic mix that promotes red blood cell production.

Then there is magnesium in abundance, along with calcium. Magnesium is important for balancing calcium for bone production and energy. It is necessary for the smooth function of our nervous system. The mineral is essential to over 300 metabolic processes and the synthesis of almost all the other minerals and vitamins.”

All Day Morning Sickness Cookies

Wet (mix first)

  • two eggs 
  • 1/2 cup nuttzo
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted kerrygold butter
  • 1 teaspoon anise extract (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 cup blackstrap molasses (could maybe even do 1/2 cup)
  • 4 inch piece ginger fresh grated

Dry (mix separately, then slowly incorporate into wet mixture)

  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup coconut flour
  • 2 tablespoons flax meal
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • extra molasses, to garnish cookies

Spoon out 1 tablespoon droplets onto a parchment lined or salpit lined cookie sheet, bake at 350 for 8-9 minutes. Allow to cool completely before removing from tray (I stick mine in the freezer for a few minutes). Add to plate and sprinkle with a little coconut sugar. Give to your favorite prego.



In other news, if you follow me on Insta (@eatcleanpissglitter, duh) you already know. BUTT, yesterday I discovered that you can add fizz (carbonated water) to Starsucks drinks! Yessss, uh-huh I KNOW. So I got a half green half passion fruit iced tea ADD FIZZ. NO sugar. SOOOOOO AMAZING. Pregos need two things: fizz and cookies.

#butterbooty Burger Lounge Giveaway + Keto Krispies Cereal! {sugar-free grain-free paleoish low carb}

You. Guys. I miss cereal so much with my whole heart. I love it. The problem is when I have cereal, I have like 5 bowls not 1. So whilst I preach the moderation wagon, this is one treat I actually really cannot indulge in.  At least not Rice Crispies (my weakness). Except for when I am in the hospital recovering from having a child, Rice Krispies on Rice Krispies on Rice Krispies!

So when I came across this recipe I was beyond intrigued. Made a few modifications and arrived at Keto Krispies. YUMMMM!

 Keto Krispiesketo krispiesIngredients

3 cups coconut flakes (unsweetened)

1/4 of water

1 cup hemp seeds

2 teaspoons of Xyla (could use stevia or something else or maple syrup if not concerned with sugars)

2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of salt

3 tablespoons melted ghee (or pasture butter or coconut oil)

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.  Line Cookie sheet with with parchment paper.
  2.  Melt ghee in a sauce pan over low
  3. In a large bowl, add water along with cinnamon, salt, vanilla and xyla. Whisk until dry ingredients are dissolved. Add ghee. Add coconut flakes and stir well until flakes are evenly coated. Be sure flakes are not sticking together. Taste for sweetness.  Add more sweetener if desired.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes. Carefully remove from oven and carefully stir. Bake for 15 minutes. Keep repeating process until golden brown and krispy, but KEEP an eye out. Mine burned. But I still LOVE IT.
  5. Pour some with a little coconut milk, raw milk, heavy cream whatever. You really do not need a lot of liquid, it absorbs it like crazy! ENJOY!

This is probably one of my favorite recipes featured in the three week Gut Check in Eat Clean. Piss Glitter! Well you should know first and foremost that I love ginger, ADORE GINGER. I am a ginger kid. It makes my tummy flatter, my liver so happy and I just feel alive when I eat/drink it in juice. So this little lady lovely is straight from my three week Gut Check that is wonderful to be consumed before or after meals to help soothe your tummy, and hopefully aid in digestion.

A small gingery warning: This recipe is NOT for the faint of heart. This is very spicy. If you would like it to be less spicy, I suggest slicing your ginger as THIN as possible and add a little filtered water.

Ginger actually has broad-spectrum antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-parasitic properties, to name just several of its more than 40 pharmacological actions (source).

Ginger Spice Slice

Ginger Spice Slice

  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • One good 3-4 inch piece of ginger, sliced thinly into 1″ slices
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • A little bit of filtered water to cover the ginger
  • Add everything to a small mason jar and make sure the ginger is covered with liquid. Shake it up, enjoy a slice before each meal or whenever you need a little perk me up!
  • Good in the fridge up to a week. I like to make these beauties every Sunday to last me the week ahead

1 scoop of @source_organic whey
1 teaspoon flaxseed meal
2 teaspoons cocoa powder

Stupid easy delights. 1/2 cup full fat organic yogurt (my fave is Strauss creamery) + 1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon or more + a shake or two of sea salt. Blend enjoy. Did you know it is reallllyyyy difficult to find organic whey protein powder? Yeah it is, which is lame, and the few we’ve found pretty much suck a lot. This one is delish especially with good ingredients in your shake. Chocolate coconut ice cream wanna be protein shake anyone?

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds

  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flakes
